User Experience Architect

Location: Toronto

FCV Interactive is the user-focused transformation agency. As a result of exciting new business wins, we are seeking an User Experience Architect to join our Customer Experience team. You have a track record in transforming complex business problems into delightful customer experiences. You do this by planning and architecting solutions that deliver measurable results, and you've done it for major brands across all digital channels.

You will work projects with varied budgets - so flexibility and a range of delivery approaches and skills are required. You will be a champion for the end-user experience, and will be a team player comfortable with taking ownership of your work. You'll be involved through the complete project lifecycle - from strategy, primary and secondary user research, experience ideation through to solution architecture and guiding development and design teams in UX best practice implementation.

Specific tasks will include strategic user research, business analysis, user requirements gathering, usability testing, user experience architecture - concepts, wireframes, concept prototyping and usability testing - plus working with our design, development, production and QA teams to implement solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and enhance the experience design aspects of existing and ongoing projects
  • Contribute as a central project team member from inception to delivery
  • Participate in user and stakeholder workshops to gather relevant inputs to inform design solutions
  • Define user experience requirements and develop user profiles, scenarios and user journeys, in collaboration with project team members
  • Create UX concepts, site maps, user flows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes that meet user needs effectively, utilizing best practice, research, testing and analytics to inform decision making
  • Participate in both generative and evaluative user research activities, working closely with FCV’s dedicated Research team as required
  • Work closely with visual designers, front-end specialists and technologists to refine and realize design solutions
  • Support fast-paced Business Development efforts, often alongside active client projects
  • Demonstrate professional demeanor, effective time management, expectation setting and communication
  • Present your work professionally and effectively, to a variety of audiences, and facilitate discussion and input
  • Obtain formal review and approval from the Director, UX
  • Mentor junior team members to grow and hone their skills and achieve their best work

Skills and Experience

  • Degree level education in a Human Factors / Interaction Design subject, or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience in an interactive digital agency, in a user experience, information architecture or comparable human factors role
  • Experience operating within user-centered design processes, and understanding experience design and usability engineering principles and how they relate to the visual design process
  • A portfolio of work that demonstrates your capabilities across a range of brands and channels
  • Proficiency in wireframing, user and journey modelling, as well designing interactive prototypes
  • Experience in developing and evaluating information architectures
  • Experience in user research and analysis, including contextual inquiry, user interviewing and usability testing
  • Ability to work in an agile environment with varying skillsets
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong problem solving skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Working knowledge of responsive design and the tenets of multi-screen design
  • Working knowledge of accessibility standards, A/B testing, analytics and performance measurement, and common content management systems a plus, but not necessary
  • Ability to focus under pressure and deal with ambiguity
  • A sense of humour and a positive attitude
